The Allentown Office Administrator, Carole Chiego, attended the event stating, “Sometimes hard times fall on good people. We do not want them to get discouraged and hope to share an excellent employment opportunity by sharing information and educating them about the growing demand for employees in home health care. We want them to realize there are rewarding careers available in our industry”, she said.

The Home Care / Home Health industry is currently exploding with job opportunities. One factor is the increasing need for Home Health Aides and Personal Care Aides in the field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “the occupation of home health aide is expected to grow by 41% from 2016-2026 which is much faster than the average for other occupations”.

This growth has been seen directly by Extended Family Care. Fueling this growth is the rise in the baby boomer population which has a direct effect on the home care industry. As people age, they often need assistance, either temporarily and permanently, to remain independent. People generally prefer to stay in the comfort and familiarity of their own home rather than moving to a facility. “We want to educate the workforce about this employment option and its forecasted growth”, Chiego stated. The CareerLink in Allentown gave them the opportunity to do just that last week.
