Stephen Sternbach
CEO
With over 35 years of experience, Stephen Sternbach has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Extended Family Care Services since 1987. After the sale of the New York and New Jersey operations of Extended Family Care Services, Sternbach brought the company private where he remains President and CEO of this 40-million dollar company. With Sternbach at the helm, Extended Family Care Services employs more than 650 employees, in six offices throughout Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York.
From 1978 to 1986, Sternbach was associated with Automated Data Processing, Inc. (“ADP”)–a provider of information services, where he held several marketing positions before becoming the Director of Sales.
1999-2008 Sternbach was an active participant on the Board of Directors for Proginet–a computer software company based in Garden City, Pennsylvania. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society from 1996-2002.
In 1996, Stephen Sternbach was named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst & Young, Paine Webber and NASDAQ. Sternbach was also named in Crain’s New York Business Article, “40 Under 40” Successful Business Executives/Future Business Leaders in 1995. While maintaining a diversity of business and personal interests, Sternbach concentrated most of his efforts over the past three decades towards continuously improving the quality of services delivered by the Extended Family Care Services’ family of companies.
Stephen Sternbach holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University – Maxwell School of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Relations and Personnel Administration from Ithaca College.
Mary Lynne Heller
Branch Administrator
After Mary Lynne Heller received her nursing degree from Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing, she went on to graduate with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Millersville University. Her quest for learning further expanded her skill set as she gained extensive managerial and nursing skills within medical, surgical and oncology hospital-based units, a trauma center, and an infusion company before coming to Extended Family Care family in 2001. Mary Lynne’s cumulative 40 years of nursing experience has been heightened by her successes in the role of Administrator in the Lancaster branch of Extended Family Care. She has not only set branch records in revenue growth but has also exceeded company-wide performance and quality measures.
A long-time resident of Lancaster County, Mary Lynne enjoys spending time with her husband Terry, and their 3 horses and collies. The countless hours of caring for her client and employee-based “family” at work and at home can truly depict the selfless character of Mary Lynne Heller.
Debbie Kelly
Manager, Corporate Administration
Debbie Kelly holds the position of Manager, Corporate Administration of Extended Family Care Services.
In August 2006, Ms. Kelly successfully obtained a New York State Home Care license for the Pittsburgh branch and has made the company a leader in the industry as she became the driving force responsible for boosting the office sales to record highs over the past fifteen years. She prides herself as a devoted advocate for families in our community and the patients for whom we provide care.
Considering herself a life-long New Yorker, Debbie grew up in Lancaster, holds a Bachelor of Science from The State University at Oneonta and currently resides in Massapequa, Pennsylvania with her family. Together with her husband, Brian, who works for Extended Family Care Services as a Registered Nurse, they have remained active in their community volunteering as coaches for their children Taylor and Dylan and dedicate their time as the program coordinators of a variety of local sports teams in their Massapequa neighborhood.
Debbie can be characterized as company’s biggest cheerleader and truly has the capability to lead any team to where it wants to go.
When she is not out in the community advocating for her patients, you can usually find Debbie out on the sports fields or with her family walking Sawyer, their Labrador Retriever.

Albert Bernard
CFO Extended Family Care
Services
Albie Bernard joined Extended Family Care in 2020 as its Controller. Prior to joining Star, Albie spent much of his career in client service at one of the top professional services firms in the world. During his tenure with the firm, Albie served Fortune 100 clients as well as private mid-sized companies in various industries. He was an integral part of helping his clients navigate through accounting issues, compliance risks and regulatory challenges. Albie has also served as part of the financial management of a privately held company. He managed the entirety of the finance function and was a strategic partner to C-Suite executives of the business.
Albie holds a B.B.A. in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. On a personal level, Albie enjoys hiking, concerts, paddle-boarding and spending time with his family.
Lauren Scalcione RN
New York Branch
Administrator
Lauren Scalcione, a Registered Nurse, joined Extended Family Care in 2013 as the Branch Administrator of the New York office. She was drawn to the Company’s team-focused environment and the longevity of both its employees and clients.
Lauren is a graduate of Nassau Community College’s Nursing program and pursuing her BSN. She has come to the Star family with various clinical experiences in multiple health care settings in addition to an extensive managerial background in management services organizations and a reputable dental management practice with locations throughout New York City. In addition to her nursing and operations background, Lauren attributes the successes within her past and current careers to her hard work and dedication which is rooted in her love of people.
Lauren’s true passion is advocating for people in need, hoping to improve the quality of their life and of those around her. She is very active in her Pittsburgh community and volunteers with several organizations such as; Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis Research, Parent Teacher Association, Challenger Baseball, the Special Olympics as well as many professional healthcare groups.
Lauren currently resides in Massapequa, PA with her husband, Chris, their 2 children and dog, Guinness. They are a very active family balancing work, sports, family and friends. They enjoy skiing in the winter, the beach in the summer, and everything in between! They have a love of life and those around them.

Jacqueline Aristizabal
Accounts Receivable
Manager
Jacqueline has demonstrated success in the health care field as a manager for over 19 years. During that time, she has worked in many areas of the home health care business. Her success as a manager has come from her hands-on approach to daily operations. This unique management style has enabled her to develop proven strategies in the oversight of the billing, personnel, contracting, and accounts receivable departments for which she has overseen.
After receiving her Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration from C.W. Post, she began her career as a home health care biller in Lancaster. Working her way through multiple roles in the agency, she ultimately became manager. She later moved on to work with a health care financing company in Pittsburgh City before joining the team of Extended Family Care. Jacqueline’s position of Accounts Receivable Manager characterizes her strong leadership skills and her ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the department. She has used these experiences to develop strategies that are crucial to the billing and collection operations of Extended Family Care Services since 2001.
Jacqueline is a native Pittsburgher. Together with her husband they stay busy raising three daughters. In addition to this demanding schedule she maintains active volunteer positions within her community, her children’s schools and all her daughters’ extracurricular activities.

Stephanie Anderson
Extended Family Care Services Payroll Manager
Stephanie Anderson is an industry veteran with over 20 years of payroll experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from State University of New York Old Westbury.
She joined Extended Family Care Services in 2001 and currently manages all aspects of weekly and bi-weekly payroll for almost 600 employees. In addition, she is accountable for the 401k Retirement Plan and the benefits deductions for all eligible employees. Her profound organizational skills and notable attention to detail have enabled her to maintain the company record for accuracy each year.
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys traveling with her husband and serves as Treasurer for her local church.

Liz Hansen
Manager of Human Resources, Extended Family Care Services
Liz Hansen is the Manager of Human Resources at Extended Family Care Services. Liz has over 15 years of Human Resources experience, 10 of which have been in a leadership role. Liz is a Manager with a strong knowledge in recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits and workers’ compensation.
With Star since April 2009, she is responsible for all human resource functions for the company. Her areas of responsibility include recruitment and staffing, benefits, employee relations, workers’ compensation and unemployment.
Liz holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Radford University and received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in June 2006.
